East St. Louis School District 189 is hosting the Summer Food Program now through July 31st to ensure free meals are provided to all children (ages 18 and under) during the summer. Free breakfast and lunch are available, Monday through Friday, at multiple school locations.

East St. Louis School District 189 marked a major milestone in student opportunity and workforce development with the groundbreaking of its $17.2 million Career and Technical Education (CTE) facility expansion at East St. Louis Senior High School.

Mrs. Meonshai Houston, 4th Grade Teacher at Annette Officer Elementary, named one of 30 teacher finalists for the 2026 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching.

A growing number of students at East St. Louis Senior High School are taking bold steps toward their future by qualifying to attend Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) full-time while still in high school.
After recently completing the ACCUPLACER exam, a new group of students (see attached photo) has qualified — an opportunity that allows them to earn college credit and accelerate their path to a degree.
