AVID Program
Welcome to AVID! AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. The AVID elective class is open to students who have earned between a 2.5-4.0+ GPA, who have the willingness to work hard and a desire to go to college. AVID places special emphasis on reading, writing, critical thinking, teamwork, public speaking, community involvement, test-taking skills, note-taking, and organization through tutorial sessions with college students and AVID curriculum. AVID is more than a class, we're a family. We are here to encourage and support each other to reach our college dreams!
We are looking for students who are interested in direct instruction on academic skills, opportunities for tutoring in their core academic classes, and are looking for time to research for their future. These students should know they are walking into a family!
